"I love polaroids, because EVERYTHING looks amazing as a polaroid. I mean, you could take a picture of a foot, and it'd be the coolest foot ever, because it's a polaroid. And you could take a picture of trash, and it'd be the coolest trash I've ever seen, because it's a polaroid.(I'm a bit obsessed with polaroids.)"

"Having worked with digital for so long, the infinite, impersonal feel was really getting to me. I think polaroids were the perfect answer to this... plenty of room for mistakes, the finite quality of each and every picture, and just the overall process itself. I've found that the more thought you put into each picture you make with a polaroid camera, it really shows. It takes patience, attention to light, and most of all pure creativity. With the lack of fancy controls, the resulting image comes entirely from the creativity of the mind behind the camera...longue vie aux polaroids! "

"I think the main thing I love about polaroids is the combination of instant gratification along with total unpredictability. Polaroids are very difficult to shoot; it's easy to "waste" a pola because it's a challenging art form. However, if you get it right, you get AMAZING results--stunning colors and tones unlike any other film. There are so many kinds of polaroid film, too, and I love to compare the results from them all. My favourite type is the now-extinct Time-Zero; I still have a stash, but I will be so sad when it's gone. Still, Polas are little pieces of art that you can hold in your hand "

"I always thought that polaroids look so archaic and vintage, that they make great album covers. I make music, so my attempts at polaroids first began as attempts at my own record cover I guess haha. But I fell in love with them, and now I just do them whenever I can!"

"I think polaroids appeal to me because they look so timeless. yknow what I mean? some look like they've been taken long ago and it takes you back in time, whereas other photos lose their magic after a whie. I'm not really sure what else..I love the colours polaroids produce. I love everything about them!"

"Polaroids are great. The way they develop before your eyes, the dodgy colours and (with this camera at least) the poor focus. Even when new they look like something from the 70's."

"I like to catch the light, the instant with a simple film. I think the polaroid talk us in another way, more personal way. The render is different, stranger than a numeric for example. The object is very important too. The film, the old camera, the old leather case... It's another way to "work", it's like vinyls VS cds."

"What I love about them: the quality. It's not that good which makes it great. And its instant. Woohoo. So you know if its shit or not in a few seconds rather then a few days after it gets printed. And of course the white edges."

back in business
well, the worst of the school year is over :] I have one more day left, on wednesday, but other than that I'm done. it's so amazing to have free time again!
I've uploaded a few new images that I've taken, and started reformatting my gallery (getting rid of large borders & adding a signature). I'm about to get started clearing out the 703 deviations waiting for me in my devwatch...and then after that I'll probably get started on putting together another photography feature for the news.
catch me up on what I've missed since I've been gone! :]
break.
I am determined to get accepted to Rice, and work harder at the flute than I have ever worked. I realize now that this is extremely important, and so I'm going to dedicate most of my spare time to achieving my goal.
Given that this is an extremely busy time of year in school as well, I am taking a break from DA to focus on what's important. I might upload a few new photos now and then, but I really need to stop slacking and get to work.
I'll be back in one or two weeks, and fully active again in about a month when school is out. Until then, have fun :]

Some of the most powerful portraits are those in which the person's face isn't fully revealed. Here are some gorgeous examples:

questions?
You can ask me 3 questions. Any three, no matter how personal, private, or random. I have to answer them honestly. In turn, you have to post this message in your own journal and you have to answer the questions that are asked to you.
